Standard, premium, UV and foil explained

Standard and premium business cards side by side

What is the difference between standard and premium cards?

The standard card is the simple choice, and the premium card is thicker with more finishes. Our standard business card is printed full colour on art card (a smooth coated card stock), and you can add matte lamination (a thin clear film over the print). The premium business card is printed full colour on both sides, as the product page shows. You choose a thicker art card and laminate it in matte, gloss or velvet soft touch. Velvet soft touch is a lamination with a soft, suede-like feel, and it comes only on the thickest stock. If you hand out a lot of cards on site or at the counter, the standard card does the job. If the card is the first thing a client keeps from you, the premium card feels heavier and lasts longer in a wallet.

What are Spot UV and UV raised cards?

Spot UV puts a shiny clear coat on one part of the card, and UV raised does the same but builds it up so you can feel it. On a Spot UV business card you choose what gets the shine: a logo, a phone number or your name. The rest of the card stays matte, so that part catches the light. A UV raised business card, also called UV embossed, uses a thicker spot UV varnish. The coated part stands up off the card, and people notice it when they run a thumb across it. Both are offset printed full colour on both sides. You pick the card thickness and a matte or velvet soft touch lamination. Send us your logo and tell us which parts to highlight. We set that up in the artwork and show you on the proof.

How are foil business cards made?

Foil cards are made with heat. We transfer a thin metallic foil onto the card with a heat process, so your logo, name or number shines in real silver or gold. Our silver foil and gold foil business cards are offset printed full colour on our thickest art card. They get velvet soft touch lamination first, then the foil is stamped on top. The soft matte surface makes the foil stand out more. Foil works best on bold shapes and larger text, so a fine line in a logo may need thickening first. Our designers check this when they set up the artwork, and you see it on the proof before we print. Real estate agents in Melton often choose the foil cards to match their signs and brochures.

How much do business cards cost in Melton?

Every business card type shows its price on its product page, so you see the cost before you order. Pick the size, paper, lamination and quantity, and the price updates on the page. Foil and raised cards cost more than standard cards, because they go through an extra finishing step. The price includes one-point metro delivery to Melbourne, Adelaide, Sydney, Perth and Brisbane. How it works

How does ordering business cards work?

Ordering runs in four steps.

1. Design and artwork

Send your logo and details, or your print-ready file.

2. Proof

We email a proof. Nothing prints until you approve it.

3. Print

We print and finish your cards.

4. Deliver

Your cards are delivered to you.

Ordering runs in four steps: design and artwork, proof, print, deliver. First, choose your card on its product page and upload your artwork. You can also download our size template, or ask our designers to set up the card from your logo and details. Second, we email you a soft proof (a digital preview of the finished card). Nothing is printed until you approve it, so check every phone number and email address. Third, we print and finish the cards. Fourth, we deliver them. Our premium, Spot UV, UV raised and foil cards list their production turnaround on each product page. If you have a deadline, tell us when you order. In an emergency we can help on weekends and public holidays at no extra charge.
